My very first book trailer!

I've suffered book trailer envy for the past few weeks and finally decided to do something about it. One google search and voila!  Saving Andromeda has its own video.

Okay, it wasn't quite that easy. But almost. It took about three hours to put this together - it's not  perfect, or fancy or really really high tech, but I did it aw by mysef.  :)

And as a tip for those of you who've never tried to make one, you can use iMovie (for Macs) and Windows Movie Maker (for PCs). Both programs are similar, user-friendly, etc. One suggestion: pick your music first! It'll help your pacing, mood, etc. There are free sites that give away free clips. DM me for suggestions.

Please leave suggestions on making this better...and if you have one of your own, consider signing up at our Casting Call blogfest over at Carrie Butler's blog TODAY. It's a one-post fest to share trailers and pictorial character representations from your MS that'll run next week. (Is pictorial a real word? *shrug* I like it.)

What are pictorial character representations, you ask? Click here for an idea.

I had to watch this on mute, so I can't say anything about the music or pacing. But the fonts were hard to read. Try something in Bold so it shows better against your black and white pictures. Otherwise, looks good!

I love the music and it gives me an idea of what the story is about. It's also the perfect length - I hate three minute book trailers :-)

I enjoyed the whole package, the music, the synopsis, the images and the suspense elements, though I would suggest that putting the bit about the tangled family tree after 'until she found out her parents weren't who she thought they were'. Leave the bit about who her parents are until after 'shrouded with secrets'.
Great stuff.

The music is great. I did have a little trouble reading the words on some of the backgrounds. I was a little confused about the reference to the murderer finding her. I'm guessing it's the real murderer, not the mother who might endanger Emma's life. Can you tweak that without giving away a major plot point?
Great job overall.

Thanks for your comments all! I agree about the font - I tried several and obviously need to keep looking. I'll fix in time for next week's bloghop. Hope you can join me then!

I just watched the trailer and I'm impressed that you only took 3 hours! I would have taken like 8! LOL
Anyway, I really liked it! And good luck with the querying :D

That trailer is gorgeous! And that music is perfect (love the smoking gun and the hand with words on it). And thanks for the tip about using iMovie. I'm not ready for a trailer yet, but hopefully someday I will be!

Looks good, though I agree with what people are saying about the words. I'm going to be putting mine together here soon, and I'm definitely using iMovie - love it!

Hi, thanks for stopping by my blog. I love the pictures you chose for your book trailer; each one is gorgeous and provocative--nice, nice job. My favorite one is the trees.

The only things that tweaked my inner critique meter were the phrases "no one is who they seem" and "time is running out". These two are heavily used in movies and book queries. It would be cool if you could change them into juicy nuggets of your story. Plus I found it odd that the main character who seems to be a teenager or older didn't know her dad was a rock star, unless he wasn't part of life until this point.

Woohoo, Melodie! This is awesome! Your text is hard to read at times. If you're using Windows Live Movie Maker, they have color bands that can run under your words (like on my Architect of Song trailer) to keep them from blending into the background. That would be a better solution than bolding it because the problem is a blending of colors, and bolding won't help that.

Other than that, I thought it was excellent. Picture choices rocked, music was perfect. Great job!! Isn't it fun and addictive. LOL
