Anyway, in between teaching, hockey, volleyball, Battle of the Books, more hockey, house cleaning, shopping, and general life stuff, I managed to finish a draft of a WIP that's totally out of my comfort zone. It's a fantasy with dystopian elements...and a lot of fun. One thing I've noticed about YA lately is there's very little sense of humor involved. Everyone takes themselves so seriously.
Which I get is a teen thing but c'mon. If there's one time in life when you need a sense of humor, it's when you're a teenager.
Anyway, I'm almost to the point where I need a reader. I realize probably nobody is left reading these posts out there but if there is someone who has some time to be a first reader, please message me. The blurb is under 'WIPs in my life' if you're interested.

I'd happily swap pages. I'm a little slow and probably not nearly as professional as you, but I like to think I have a few brain cells firing. And I can take criticism...better a critter partner than a reviewer later.

I'll also take a look at your WIP if you're interested. Like you, I'm a teacher. The good part of that is I read a lot of YA and I'm around teenagers for most of my day. The bad part of that is it might take me a while. I'm also working on my most recent WIP. I'm only 30 pages in, but I'll need a keen eye when it's complete (which I'm hoping to get done by the end of the summer). Good luck with your oldest child's final year of high school! We sent our oldest to college last year, and it was hard, but ultimately good for everyone :) I'm a little slammed with life lately or I'd offer to read your WIP!

Also. I wanted to tell you that I FINALLY rewrote that wishes story you read for me.
I passed the MS on to Allie Brennan along with your notes, and she took over the girl, who is now Rupashi and the book is unrecognizeable. So. Yanno. Your crits work ;-)
Well, at least I have something that I feel proud of.
If I weren't so busy, I would help you out! But I'm swamped with life that I can't even find writing time.
